Aitutaki - The Cook Islands

Glorious day on Aitutaki Lagoon in the Cook Islands. A true wonder....

Toberua Island - Fiji

Toberua Island - Fiji

Swam out one morning to find this shot. It had been lurking in my head. A school of sharks had been feeding nearby the day before, needless to say shooting this left me severely 'creeped out', making the shot ever more glorious. I long to return.

Barefoot on the reef.

Barefoot on the reef.

On this day we were booted out the water by the arrival of a very large shark. On the way to the shoot one of the divers forgot his fins. I kindly offered mine up as I couldn't shoot a diver with no fins. Needless to say, swimming in shallow water on a razor sharp reef is fun. When the shark arrived I could only wonder as to whether I had any reef bites causing blood to enter the water. I think he was just inquisitive as to the strange noises in the water. Folk on the boat saw him coming from 100m away..... It was a beautiful day.

The wonder of a new day.  Moments like this make me feel like I have the best job in the world!  Not many people are able to spend their days looking for the beauty in whatever their eye falls upon.

Promise and Pain

Promise and Pain

On this day my body was having a fight with some major kidney stones. I was in a world of pain, but needed to move on this project. The sky had been overcast for most of the day. I had gambled on a gap in the late afternoon and had spied this gap coming 20minutes before. This left enough time to set up this shot. The euphoria of the moment left my body awash with the best painkiller in the world, pure joy.
